Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite NYCC Hands-On Preview: Black Panther and Monster Hunter Characters First Impressions

October 7, 2017 by Chris Jackson

Both characters are great addition to the roster!

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite has already released a couple of weeks ago now and with the general consensus of the game is that it is “good”. For the most part, the game is everything it said it was going to be, a Marvel vs. Capcom game, filled with characters from the two worlds, combined with a zany story.

It hits most of those notes strongly, but it does fail at bringing some main characters to the game at launch alongside some hiccups in the design and graphics department. But we’re not here to discuss the main game, if you want to hear what we think of the game, then head over to YouTube to watch our Before You Buy video on the game.

Today we are taking a brief second to give my impression of the upcoming DLC characters for the game, Black Panther and Monster Hunter. These two are both pretty cool when you think about it, Black Panther is a great addition to the Marvel side of things, while Monster Hunter is a great addition to the Capcom side of things.

Now how do they play?

Black Panther and Monster Hunter are both great, to say the least. I would say Black Panther is slightly better in my opinion due to his strong attacks and long airtime. I’m by no means a fighting game expert. I like playing them for a little while, but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty, I’m not too familiar with the ins and out. However, I will note that Black Panther would have been great as a main roster character. It’s a little of a bummer they left him out of the main game, but he’s releasing in the coming weeks so it’s not too long of a wait.

Monster Hunter, on the other hand, is a little slower than Black Panther but packs a slightly heavier punch. Her fighting technique focuses on her swords, arrows, and battle axes, but she does have the ability to throw a kick and roll as well. Comparing her to Black Panther she is slower, but not significantly, she’s just a slower methodical fighting style, that most players will play her slower, at least that’s what I was feeling when I was playing.

Both characters were fun to play and should be worth your while when they do officially release. Are you playing Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite? Excited for DLC characters like Monster Hunter and Black Panther? Let us know in the comments below!
