There’s No Plans For A Final Fantasy XV Nintendo Switch Port

February 8, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

Looks like Nintendo Switch owners will not receive a Final Fantasy XV port.

Final Fantasy XV launched on November 29, 2017, for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. Now gamers are interested in seeing if this latest installment of the Final Fantasy franchise will also see a release on the other platforms. While the director of the video game, Hajime Tabata, recently spoke an interest in a PC port, it doesn’t seem that the Nintendo Switch will receive the same treatment.

It was earlier this month that Hajime Tabata revealed an interest in bringing over Final Fantasy XV on the PC platform. This would allow gamers who are not on a current generation console but instead mainly focus on PC gaming an opportunity to enjoy the game with exclusive access to mod support. Unfortunately, it’s not stated as if this port will ever see the light of day or if it’s wishful thinking from game director Hajime Tabata.

Recently, an interview with the director and DualShockers managed to ask if there was any interest in bringing out a port of the video game for the Nintendo Switch. When asked directly, the director simply stated that there are no plans and that it wouldn’t run. When pressed further, it’s revealed that Hajime Tabata is not fully confident if the hardware could handle the software or not.

“It might run… But we haven’t conducted the proper tests on whether it would run properly on Switch or not, so I cannot say for sure.

There are no plans for Switch at the moment, but overall, there is interest in the platform among the development team. We do have lots of Nintendo fans inside BD2.”

It seems that while there is no interest in bringing over the title port to the Nintendo Switch the director and development studio is still interested in the console. One of the biggest downfalls for the Nintendo Wii U was the lack of third-party video game support. We’re sure there are a few gamers disappointed that they can’t enjoy Final Fantasy XV on the go, but it’s at least nice knowing that the developers are intrigued by the hardware.
