Update: Treyarch has provided an official response to the leak. Their statement is as follows:
“The video posted is from a development demo build, using developer tools meant for testing. The retail build was never accessed or compromised.”
While leaks are nothing new these days, it's still worth noting whenever a "big" game gets in the hands of people who aren't supposed to have it yet. Like it or hate it, there's still no bigger game franchise out there today than Call of Duty.
Speaking of Call of Duty, it seems the game has been leaked already! Yep, a full two-months before release! According to Proconsolehax, game modder iHcJames managed to grab an early version of Black Ops 2! In addition to playing it, he even managed to mod the game already.
Quick! Watch it now before it gets pulled by Activision's legal hounds like they did with the YouTube uploads! (via AllGamesBeta)
Black Ops 2 Mod by allgamesbeta2
Yep, Activision has pulled the video from YouTube at the time of this writing. So, if that clip above doesn't work, then you're so out of luck. Don't worry though, you're not missing much. It's just a two-minute clip of a standard Team Deathmach game. What makes it interesting is that iHcJames modded it to make his character teleport and do crazy things.
Of course, the game will likely not allow that sort of thing. Heck, I doubt it would allow mod tools of any kind at all.
The mod itself is nothing unusual, but what's weird here is how a few people (assuming the people playing weren't bots) managed to get the game this early. Are retailers stocking them now? I doubt it and we haven't even heard of the game going gold yet, either.
Have they made enough changes or is it just too much of the same old thing? Sound off and let us know.
Black Ops 2 is set for release on November 13 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
