DICE has just announced that the content drop exclusive for Battlefield 3 Premium members is now available. While the actual contents are quite underwhelming (no in-game weapons or any of the sort), the big deal here is the BF3 Premium exclusive video for the game's upcoming expansion — Armored Kill.
Well, lucky for non-Premium members, this five-minute clip can be seen below. The video starts by showing us Battlefield 3's first-ever snow map and it looks amazing. For those who felt constricted by Close Quarters' maps, then this expansion is for you. Just from the video alone you can already tell they're going to be expansive maps that will focus on both vehicular and infantry warfare.
In addition to the snow map, "Armored Shield" is also shown off and it seems to be similar ot Bad Company 2's Heavy Metal Stage…at least the landscapes and windmills do.
There's also Death Valley, which is a nighttime map based on railways and seems to be a smaller version of Caspian Border — at least from what we've seen.
Lastly, Bandar Desert, the vaunted "biggest Battlefield map in history," is also shown off. One quick panned-out view and this is all but confirmed. The expansion's most-anticpated vehicle — the AC130 — makes an appearance here and it looks to be hell on wings.
If you're a PC Battlefield 3 player, these sort of maps are perfect for 32 on 32 matches. But for console players who have to contend with 12 on 12 firefights, maps feeling barren and desolate will be a major concern.
We'll know the answer to this once Armored Kill is released on September 4 for PS3 Battlefield 3 Premium users, with Xbox 360 and PC players getting their first stab at the expansion on September 11.
Any of you excited for Armored Kill from what you've seen from the video so far or is it more Operation Metro and close-quarter combat for you?
