Bethesda has just unveiled Hearthfire, an upcoming DLC for Skyrim which unlike Dawnguard, is small in size and adds relatively little content by comparison. That said, it's only set to cost 400 MS Points when it comes out on Xbox LIVE next week on September 4.
The Hearthfire DLC allows you to purchase land and build your own home from the ground up. Rather than buying a house in one of the game's cities to upgrade and decorate to a small, limited degree, Hearthfire will allow you to build your house up from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound replete with an armory, alchemy lab, vegetable garden, stable, and more.
Through Hearthfire, you'll gain access to a host of new tools like the drafting table and the carpenter's workbench to transform quarried stone, clay, and sawn logs into a variety of structures and furnishings for your home. You'll even be able to adopt children to populate make your home feel lived in.
There's no word on when Bethesda plans to release the DLC for the PS3 and the PC, but it probably won't be long before they do.
If you thought that Hearthfire would see the addition of zombies—well, you'd be wrong.
