Nintendo’s recent presentation event highlighted their next big console release, the Nintendo Switch. During the event, we got to hear more details regarding the consoles features, price point, and the release date later this year. Likewise, there was a number of video game reveals along with third party developers giving some insight as to what gamers can expect in the coming months.
Unfortunately, there was still a number of franchises from Nintendo that lacked any attention once again, ahem Metroid. This did not go unnoticed for several gamers around the world and luckily for us, GameSpot managed to reach out and ask Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime to see what’s going on.
It didn’t take Reggie very long into the conversation apparently to know just What GameSpot was going to ask. According to Reggie, Nintendo and himself have been asked a number of times regarding Mother 3 and Metroid. While the question seemed to come up quite a bit, there’s still no news regarding a new Metroid title or a western release of Mother 3.
“Look, again, I am proud as an executive with Nintendo to say that we look at all of the boards and all of the comments and we really have a good understanding of what our consumers want. And believe me, we take that to heart as we work to create content.
So I have nothing to announce–here. But we are aware that there are some key IP that consumers just can’t wait for the next true installment in that franchise’s legacy. Suffice it to say, we’re aware of it, and talk to me in a year and let’s look back and see what’s happened.”
Instead, Reggie states that Nintendo is very much aware of what gamers want and that they frequently check various online sources for feedback. Again, while not stating much about these titles, the Nintendo of America President did ask gamers to wait and look back at this year when 2018 rolls around.
Though it’s not an announcement, it seems that Nintendo may have some new exciting reveals that gamers have been waiting for sometime this year.
