Head of 343 Industries Unveils New Details On Cancelled Halo Mega Bloks Project

January 10, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

Bonnie Ross unveils new details regarding to cancelled Halo Mega Bloks title.

It was rather recent when a video emerged online showcasing a cancelled Halo title known as Haggar. The project would bring the Halo franchise into a Mega Bloks world, giving gamers a unique look at the Halo story. Ultimately, that project was scrapped, but with the video emerging online and fans showing interest at what could have been a successful title release, 343 Industries head, Bonnie Ross, decided to reveal details regarding the project through a post on the Halo Waypoint forums.

Bonnie Ross unveiled that this was an exploratory project, one similar to other exploratory projects the development studio does regularly when it comes to the Halo franchise. With the Halo Mega Bloks partnership, the development team had hoped to deliver a title filled with action, exploration, and user creativity.

Though the idea had sounded promising, the project only consisted of a few early prototype levels before being killed off.

“Over the past few days, footage has recently made the rounds of an exploratory Xbox 360 project we worked on several years ago, known as “Haggar.” Since then, we’ve received a lot of great feedback from the community. Haggar was something we prototyped with our friends at Mega Bloks that focused on the elements of action, exploration and user creativity found within the Halo universe. Haggar had a lot of fun ideas and invention behind it, but ultimately didn’t progress beyond the early prototyping levels that are shown in the recent video. This is just one example of several similar projects we have evaluated throughout the years – a process that we continue exploring on an ongoing basis.”

Despite being killed off, there are still quite a few gamers interested in the Halo Mega Bloks style video game and with this positive feedback, 343 Industries could look back and make another attempt at the project. Though it seems that there are a number of other exploratory projects being worked on that could also be successful upon release.

What these potential upcoming title releases could remain to be seen. Currently, we know that Halo Wars 2 will be launching later this year and news regarding the next main installment of the Halo franchise will likely be unveiled soon.
