EA has announced at Gamescom that a SimCity World closed beta is now open for registration. On the heels of announcing the PC version's release date of February 2013, Maxis has given Mac owners due satisfaction with the same launch date. The game will be sold through Origin and with the tumultuous relationship between EA and Valve, I can only imagine that the simulation title will not be making an appearance on Steam.
Check out the trailer expands upon the new social aspect of SimCity and examines the existential idea of how we are all connected. It also takes a look at the variety of ways your city can look and feel, including what I think is a small red light district in one of the areas.
By registering for the beta, you'll be able to build your own city that will contribute to the SimWorld, which is intended to be an amalgam of all the fantastic ways you can make and build a small empire. Being more successful will warrant you a higher place on the leaderboards, and the end goal is to construct and manage the ultimate city. All manners of slave-simulation jokes aside, this sounds like it could be massively fun.
