Sundered is the next project from Thunder Lotus Game Devs, who previously worked on Norse mythology driven adventure Jotun. Announced on a Steam update just over two months ago, Sundered is described as “a horrifying fight for survival and sanity”, and promises to fuse the art style, big boss fights and immersion of Jotun with infinite replayability, as well as non-linear gameplay common to the metroidvania genre.
The latest footage released in time for PlayStation Experience alongside an interview video with Thunder Lotus Games’ Will Dubé. Dubé had the following to say about the game:
“It’s really a replayable metroidvania where you resist or embrace ancient Eldritch powers. We definitely have that Lovecraftian influence. We wanted to build on Jotun as well, it’s a very different game (and) different genre, but we’re keeping the same 2D hand-drawn animation and art style. We wanted to add a lot more player choices, things that could happen differently in the game.”
Sundered has is scheduled for a 2017 release. It will be available for PC, Mac and Linux platforms.
