The live-action Uncharted movie has been through a lot of changes ever since it was announced many years ago. Previously, the script was revealed as a kind of “family story” involving the Drakes, with Mark Wahlberg as its lead actor.
We don’t know if that’s the case anymore, but Uncharted 4 certainly put to rest any fears that a family story involving the Drakes could be bad.
Deadline reports that Sony Pictures has picked up Shawn Levy to direct the film. Levy is an executive producer and director on Stranger Things. He also directed Real Steel, the giant robot boxing movie starring Hugh Jackman that was a lot like the classic video game One Must Fall 2097.
Levy is set to replace Joe Carnahan, who was previously tapped to direct the movie and who wrote the most recent draft of the script.
We’ll have more details as they surface.
