The crowdfunding campaign for InXile Entertainment’s Wasteland 3 is now live.
The developers who previously made Wasteland 2, and the upcoming Torment: Tides of Numenera have just launched the crowdfund for the sequel to the Wasteland series on Fig following the success of the previous game.
The new title is a party-based RPG with a renewed focus on story reactivity and tactical turn-based combat with the addition of vehicles, environmental dangers and a new action system.
Wasteland 3 also offers a proper dialog system based on the one developed for Torment. Unlike the first game, which was strictly single-player, this one offers co-op synchronous or asynchronous multiplayer, in which players can travel together or split off in their own directions to explore areas and engage in story arcs that will impact the other player’s experience. Those involved in the writing include the acclaimed writers of Torment: Tides of Numenera, including Colin McComb and George Ziets.
In addition, players will establish a Ranger Base that plays into the narrative. Rather than functioning as a resource-gathering timesink, the stronghold will serve as a reflection of the players’ actions throughout the savage lands of frozen Colorado.
It’s set for release on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, Mac and Linux. It will also be available as a DRM-free copy on the PC, and early access is planned.
Interested gamers can back the crowdfund on Fig.co, where it just went live offering multiple physical and digital tiers. Anyone who backs the game early will also receive free copies of UnderRail and Stasis.
Disclosure: I backed the Fig campaign.
