Sony has released a new update for the PlayStation 4, but don’t expect it to come with any new bells and whistles.
You’ll need to update your system to 4.01 if you want to play any games online, so be sure to do that. It’s relatively small, weighing in at 312mb and the update notes are just one line long, stating that the update “improves the quality of the system performance.” There are no further details on what it does.
If you’ve had any issues with the newly released PS4 4.00 update, this might fix any problems you were having. The update was released just last month and included folders for app and game management as well as an all new UI for taking screenshots, controlling the volume and joining parties. It also includes support for HDR, if your TV supports 12-bit color.
The update was released for the PS4 Slim, which also came out last month. The company’s next system, the PS4 Pro, comes out in November.
