Black Ops 2 New Info Blowout

May 14, 2012 by Alex Co

Excited for Black Ops II? Read on for details!

black ops 2

The latest (June) issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine UK features Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops II as its cover game and they devote a 10-page spread to Activision's mega-franchise. Well, lucky for you we're here to share some of the details for the latest iteration of the Call of Duty franchise.

Some of the details shared below may be considered as spoilers. So proceed at your own discretion.

Graphics

Regading the game's graphics, the game will be using an all-newlighting technology. Environmental textures are far more detailed and complex, while facial detail for characters have been "taken to a whole new level." It's also been revealed that Treyarch used a live horse for the motion-capturing process.

Narrative

Treyarch has revealed that Rare Earth Materials (REM) are central to the conflict between the US and China. This conflict will be integral to Black Ops II's story. Speaking of which, expect a better "narrative" in Black Ops II compared to its predecessor. The game will bring new sandbox mission types to the franchise — a first for the Call of Duty series. Aside from this, expect flashback missions that will take place in Afghanistan, Alex Mason's son, David Mason, will be a playable character, and in what's becoming the norm these days, your "decisions" in the campaign will dictate what ending you're going to get.

Multiplayer

Not much was revealed regarding the game's bread-and-butter, but we do know a few things. Chief among which are: Treyarch aims to "strip the multiplayer back to its core," the game's zombie mode will offer more zombies (duh!), the game will offer compelling multiplayer that you'll stop playing within a month only to declare that "the last Call of Duty game had it better." — yeah, I made that last part up, but admit it! That's what usually happens.

To get all the details, pick up the latest issue of OPM at your nearest newstand…either that or wait till E3 when Activision reveals the latest info.

Are you still excited for more Call of Duty or has the franchise reached the zenith of its popularity?
