Blizzard published a Heroes of the Storm video explaining the upcoming changes to the Ranked system, arriving to the game on June 14th.
- League Structure: The 50 rank system is gone, now replaced with a 7 tier system. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, and Grand Master. Every tier through diamond is broken down further into divisions, from the lowest (5) rank to highest (1). To move up in a rank requires 1000 points, with every game win rewarding 200 points on average.
- Seasons: At the beginning of a season, everyone takes part in 10 placement matches, giving them an initial rank. From then on, matches will give or take away points if you win or lose. To get a higher rank, you need to win a promotion match. But conversely, you have the chance to defend your current rank if you win a demotion game.
- High Rank Recognition: As it applies to Master and Grand Master, the Master emblem will show how many rank points a person has accumulated, to better sort players by skill level. Grand Master players will be determined by the top Master rank players in a particular region, with their emblem showing a leader-board position (updated daily).
- End of Season Rewards: Seasons last between 8 and 12 weeks, and rewards will come in-between these periods of time. For Preseason ranks, players get an Elemental Wolf, or an Epic Elemental Wolf, accordingly.
