Silent Hill fans who attended the Anime Expo convention this past weekend got to sit in on a new snippet of footage for Silent Hill F. There was word leading up to the event that we would get a new panel for the upcoming Silent Hill game. However, we didn’t know what exactly to expect. Fortunately, some footage from one of the game’s opening scenes had since surfaced online.
During the panel, we had series producer Motoi Okamoto, scriptwriter for Silent Hill F, Ryukishi07, and legendary composer Akira Yamaoka. Thanks to CGMagazine, we’re finding footage from the scene that plays out, presumably from an early part of the game. We’ve known that the game protagonist would be a high school student named Hinako. From the footage, it seems that growing up, Hinako had a hard time getting along with the other children.
Fortunately, there was an older sister who looked out for her. How this bond will play a role in the game’s narrative remains to be seen. Even in the footage showcased, we’re not given a glimpse of her sister’s face. We’ll have to wait for perhaps more marketing materials to come out for this game to flesh out the premise and characters further.
That said, if you haven’t been keeping tabs on Silent Hill F, the game is set in the 1960s. Rather than basing the story in the town of Silent Hill, as most of the past games have done, this title is set in a fictional Japanese town. Konami wanted to dial the game back to a more traditional horror tone, rather than continuing to set the games in Western culture.
We’ll have to wait a little longer to see if this game delivers despite not being set in the familiar town we’ve come to experience in so many past games. Silent Hill F is currently set to launch on September 25, 2025. When it does launch, you’ll find it available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. Meanwhile, those of you who enjoyed Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 can expect another remake from this team. It has been confirmed that the studio is remaking the original Silent Hill game.
