There is never a shortage of mods for your favorite video games. However, how developers and IP owners feel about mods is quite varied. Some developers really praise the work fans put into these video games. Sometimes, you even get official support from developers to make mods for others to enjoy. However, some developers are not fond of mods like Rockstar Games. So, some are worried about the future of Grand Theft Auto Vice City Nextgen Edition.
Grand Theft Auto Vice City Nextgen Edition is nearing release. The Revolution Team just dropped a new trailer that highlighted the upcoming mod’s release on January 25, 2025. Fans might be marking that date, but it will be interesting to see if the mod makes it out to the public.
For those of you who are not aware, this mod uses the RAGE game engine from Grand Theft Auto IV. Players will see everything brought over from the Grand Theft Auto Vice City game, so you can expect the same content, like the missions and collectibles. That might be a mod some fans will really take up with after the previously released Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy—The Definitive Edition. If you remember, that game collection wasn’t well received by the community.
However, Rockstar Games just recently had another mod taken down. If you don’t recall, it wasn’t too long ago that we reported that the popular Grand Theft Auto V mod, Liberty City Preservation Project, was taken down. This mod brought a recreation of Liberty City to the game. However, after Rockstar Games spoke with the developers behind the mod, they suddenly decided it was time to remove it.
So, naturally, some fans are worried the same thing might happen with Grand Theft Auto Vice City Nextgen Edition as they voice their concerns in the comments section. We’ll have to wait and see if the mod manages to be released on time this week and if it lasts online. In the meantime, you can view a Grand Theft Auto Vice City Nextgen Edition trailer in the video embedded below.
