Announced at The Game Awards 2024, Midnight Murder Club is a haunting six-player shooter that sets players against each other as they navigate through a dark sprawling mansion. All they have at their side is a flashlight and a gun.
There are over 30 elaborate rooms, filled with furniture and packed with places to hide or lie in wait. Speaking to your teammates sends echoes down the surrounding rooms, gunfights reverberate across the mansion. The development team have reportedly spent a lot of time working on positional audio and how the sound travels through the space. As per a piece shared on the PlayStation blog.
There are also a few red herrings that players can employ in the form of items claimed from vending machines. These can take many forms, inflatable flashlight-wielding mannequins, a machine gun, night vision pills and a m.
There are currently two modes available. There’s a Free-for-all where six people duke it out across the dark mansion and the player with the most kills at the end of the round wins. Then there is Thief in the Night where six players pair up and scour the mansion for valuable items they need to deposit into a vault, at the end of the round the team with the most items wins.
The game is available through a Crossplay BETA until December 22. Thereafter early access will open in February of 2025.
