Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the upcoming remake of the 2004 remake of the 2004 title Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, wowed fans at this year’s Tokyo Game Show with a new trailer. Konami has been taking its time with the remade title, overhauling character models and locations using Unreal Engine 5 but keeping the same dialogue for that perfect hit of nostalgia.

The title is set in the 1960s, during the peak of the Cold War. Protagonist Naked Snake is tasked with infiltrating a jungle deep within Soviet Russia to rescue a nuclear scientist. The original game is considered one of the greatest video games of all time.
Konami is also hard at work on Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2, sharing an update last month.
“We had HD ports of Metal Gear Solid 1, 2 and 3 – or, sorry, not really for 1, but the other two,” Okamura said. “But most of the titles released after those don’t have a pre-existing HD port we could use. Some are in HD, but those would all be really big titles. That comes with its own set of issues.
“So with all these factors to consider with the lineup, anything along the lines of ‘what’s in it?’ or questions like ‘how long will it be in development, when’ll it be out’, it’s going to be a little while until we can get a clear picture, but when we do, we’ll let you know.”
The next game in the long-running series, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, though no release date has been announced.
