Shadow of the Beast will be launching later this month exclusively for the PlayStation 4. While the game takes liberties from the original title that released decades ago on the Commodore Amiga, this will be a greatly updated and enhanced version of the game. Today, an announcement was made by CEO and Founder of the development studio Heavy Spectrum, Matt Birch, alerted fans that the upcoming remake will also feature a special unlock of the original release of Shadow of the Beast.

The 2016 release of Shadow of the Beast follows the same story of its original predecessor. Players will once again the on the role of Aarbron, a man that was kidnapped as a child and corrupted through magic in order to turn him into a warrior-servant. Some of the details that are known about the original Shadow of the Beast video game have yet to be discussed or revealed for the upcoming remake, thus, there very well could be some unique twists for fans that enjoyed the Commodore Amiga launch.

Through the official PlayStation blog, Matt Birch noted the new announcement for Shadow of the Beast. Gamers can unlock the original emulated version of the original Shadow of the Beast title though it’s not known just what players will need to do in order to unlock the original title. However, Birch did state that the emulated version will come with some new features to help players along.

Because the original release of Shadow of the Beast was a tough video game to complete, the development team Heavy Spectrum has added an infinite lives mode, though this feature along with the “other helpful features” can be disabled.

Additionally, another unlock within the game will give players the original soundtrack option to replace the score created by  Ian Livingstone, a composer that has worked on a number of different video games such as Lego Dimensions, Grid 2, Rome II: Total War, and Attila: Total War. Honestly, we’re barely scratching the surface of the video games Livingston had been a part in over the years, you can check out his full list of credits right here.

As for the 2016 release of Shadow of the Beast, you can pick the game up when it launches on May 17, 2016, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
