Several rumors have emerged about Assassins’ Creed Shadows ahead of its official cinematic world premiere trailer.
Tom Henderson, reporting for Insider Gaming, wrote about some images datamined by reddit user fraxR6. The images have already been deleted or DMCA’d, but what we know is they show a black male samurai and Japanese female ninja. These have been rumored to be the game’s player characters, with the samurai reportedly being based on real life historical figure Yasuke.
Henderson also made this post on Twitter:
“I can’t remember where I said this before, but in Assassin’s Creed Shadows (via Infinity), there are mini Battle Passes called “Projects”. Each project has 20 levels where you can unlock cosmetics.
Three of them are called:
– The Hidden Network
– The Last Ronin
– In The Shadows”
When asked, Tom also revealed that there are 2 planned story expansions.
Finally, j0nathan made a new video sharing details about the game. We will refer to redditor Cygus_Logman’s summary of the video below.
Ubisoft has added to and modified Yasuke’s backstory. He apparently starts off as a slave on a ship, who loses his wife when the ship is attacked and downed by pirates. Yasuke himself is left for dead, but later rescued in Japan, and eventually makes his way to the service of Oda Nobunaga. j0nathan also claims we will see Yasuke’s death.
The female character, Naoe, apparently joined the Assassins / Shinobi because a faction called The Order kills her father. j0nathan believes The Order are the Templars, as opposed to possibly being the Ancients.
j0nathan shares data from Ubisoft_Frax, on prices for the game, presumably also mined from Ubisoft:
- Season Pass – $/€40
- Welcome Pack (4200 Helix) – $/€35
- Expansion 1 – $/€25
- Expansion 2 – $/€25
- —-Currency Packs—-
- 500 Helix – $/€5
- 1050 Helix – $/€10
- 2300 Helix – $/€20
- 4200 Helix – $/€35
- 6600 Helix – $/€5”
Finally, j0nathan addresses another apparent leak that the game is going for $59.99, claiming that may only be the price on PC. Ubisoft does sell their games cheaper on PC, so on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, it may be higher.
Now, we cannot vouch for any of these rumors being true. More importantly, we may just find out how much of these rumors are true in a matter of hours, so we wouldn’t be too caught up in these now.
But so far, there is no indication here that there will be a subscription on Ubisoft’s new platform, Assassin’s Creed Infinity. We reported on that rumor from a little over a week ago, and of course we all hope that one turns out to not be true. But like everything else explained here, we may find out the truth on all of this soon enough.
