Activision has revealed what fans can look forward to in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 & Warzone Season 1 Reloaded.
As they reveal in the official Call of Duty Blog, Season 1 Reloaded launches at January 17, 9 AM PT, on all platforms.
A new 6v6 map called Rio is set in an upscale Rio de Janeiro shopping center. The setting implies a cramped map, and they did squeeze many things around the mall. There’s a tram, a market, a plaza, a café, and centralized paths across the different floors.
There are three new modes. Team Gunfight is 6v6 Gunfight mode, on the standard multiplayer maps. In Headquarters, you have to secure a headquarters location in the map and hold it as long as possible. Finally, Infected is any asymmetric mode where either the one infected player succeeds in infecting all the other players, or those who stay human defeat all the infected.
There are crossover events based on Amazon’s The Boys. The Boys LTM sees fallen players dropping Temp V, so if you can pick those up, you can get temporary superhero powers. For a shooter.
There is also a The Boys: Supe Siege Event Challenge where you take on six challenges to prove you can hang with the Supes. Beating this challenge rewards you with a special LMG Weapon Blueprint. If that doesn’t excite you, there are also A-Train and Firecracker Operator Bundles.
Multiplayer Ranked Play becomes available to the public for the first time. You will have to reach at least Level 55 to be eligible, and it’s the sort of thing that you would really only want in if you’ve really become that good at Call of Duty.
This is 4v4 under the same conditions as players in the Call of Duty League. It will also track your win-loss record, and it will have rankings and skill divisions, simulating esports to some degree. If you get good here, you’re probably good enough to play for a living.
Dokkaebi arises as the next Warlord in Zombies mode. If you played her in the regular game, you know that she is a slippery operator who’s great at working drones. She’s set up base in a Zaravan City skyscraper, with drones, turrets, and A Wheelson protecting her.
Call of Duty Warzone will debut the Champion’s Quest in Urzikstan. To qualify, your team has to win five matches in a row, or 30 games overall. That’s the easy part.
Everyone else can try out the NVG Gulag Public Event, where the lights go out and everyone has to go around with night vision. Call of Duty Warzone also throws in new wrenches with Weapon Cases, that increase your potential win bonuses, and Covert Exfil, giving you new ways to win the game.
To put it quite simply, everyone who played Call of Duty Modern Warfare III despite the bad reviews and the The Game Awards joke doesn’t care what anyone has to say anymore. That is an incredible amount of game to play, and there’s even more coming.
