There’s plenty of hype built up for the next Call of Duty installment. That’s no surprise, as the FPS franchise is incredibly massive. With each year bringing out a new installment, there’s always excitement about what the following installment might entail. We know that this next game installment is set to be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. However, we’re still left waiting on the official reveal highlighting some gameplay, narrative, and, more importantly, confirmation on what platforms this game will land on.
The confusion comes from both Sony and Microsoft. Thanks to Twitter user TheGamingRevo3, we’re learning that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was marked as a game coming to both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. This was through a title used on the PlayStation YouTube Channel. You can find the link to this video upload right here, but it essentially lists this game as coming to both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. However, we’re getting a slightly different picture when we look at Xbox platforms.
As noted by the Twitter account, it looks like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is only listed as coming to the Xbox Series X/S platforms. Could we see this upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III skip out on the Xbox One? If that’s the case, it would be very interesting to see if this is the case. Meanwhile, it could also mean Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III might be skipping out on both last-generation platforms. It’s hard to say right now, as we’ll likely have to wait for the official reveal event to take place.
If you don’t already know, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will have a reveal event that takes place on August 17, 2023. Players will need to jump on Call of Duty: Warzone to see this event. That should further answer some questions on whether this game is coming to last-generation platforms or if there are any platforms, in particular, that are omitted from being released.
At any rate, we do know that this next game installment will be landing in the marketplace on November 10, 2023. But before that date, we should know if Call of Duty ends up landing under the Xbox umbrella. Microsoft is still gunning to acquire Activision Blizzard. All that we’re waiting for right now is the official green light from the CMA regulator.
