Ubisoft intends to deliver a number of changes to the Dark Zone location in The Division to make it more geared towards PvP encounters.
In Ubisoft Massive’s weekly State of the Game Twitch stream, the studio said that the Dark Zone, which is intended for PvP encounters, isn’t as engaging as they would like for it to be since they released the game. As such, they are taking a look at it and planning to bring changes to it to encourage players to go rogue and engage in PvP against each other.
To incentivize players to get into PvP, Ubisoft Massive stated that they’ll be reducing the penalty for dying to another player while rogue so players aren’t turned off from doing PvP.
Beyond the subject of PvP, Ubisoft says it has no plans to nerf any rusher-type bad guys despite complaints from players that they might be overpowered. Rushers are the guys with lightning bolt icons above their heads who tend to run straight into you to beat you up in melee distance. An example of those would be the Cleaners with riot shields. Instead of nerfing them, Ubisoft simply advised players to use more tactics to deal with them effectively.
Finally, the developer say that they want to reduce the downtime for server maintenance so players will have more time to play the game instead of waiting for the servers to restart.
Expect Ubisoft to reveal more details about whatever changes they plan to bring to the game once they’re ready.
