Following the unveiling of the Dwarfs, the Greenskins, and the human Empire as playable races in Total War: Warhammer, developer The Creative Assembly has unveiled the final playable faction – the Vampire Counts.
The Vampire Counts, under the direction of Mannfred von Carstein, use magic, necromancy, and ride into battle atop zombie dragon mounts. If you’ve been debating which faction to choose before now, I think The Creative Assembly may have just made up your mind for you.
The Creative Assembly and publisher Sega recently delayed the game – it was due to launch on April 28th– and detailed its system specs in order to ensure they created, “the best Total War game we’ve ever made.” While a specific reason for the delay wasn’t provided at the time, the developer hinted that it wanted to ensure reviewers had plenty of time with the game before release, suggesting it may be very large indeed.
12-minutes of gameplay footage showing a Quest Battle between the Greenskin horde of Lord Azhag the Slaughterer and the non-playable faction Bretonnia was recently revealed and can be watched here if you missed it.
Warhammer is the first Total War game to be set in a fictional universe and The Creative Assembly is working closely with Games Workshop to ensure the title is faithful to its core material while also replicating the depth afforded by the historical games in the series.
Total War: Warhammer is set for release on Windows PC on May 24th. For more of our coverage of the game, check out our dedicated tag.
