The Sims 5 Will Still Focus On Single Player Despite Having Multiplayer Component

February 1, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Don’t expect a drastic change in the game’s single-player formula.

There is plenty of anticipation over the next major installment to The Sims franchise. Of course, we know the next installment is being developed, and it will be a few years away. But that’s not stopping the development team from showcasing what players could potentially expect. A recent showcase offered some insight into the current production. Speaking on the game is director Grant Rodiek who mentions a few aspects of what The Sims Project Rene will offer.

Thanks to PCGamesN, we’re finding some new information about a recent showcasing. While not officially known yet that this upcoming game is The Sims 5, the developers are working on Project Rene. This new game title will allow players to connect with friends and family. It’s said that players can invite each other over, and there’s likely even more content that is aimed at connecting players together. That might have some fans worried we’re going to move away from the single-player component of The Sims. After all, the franchise is known for providing a solo gameplay experience where players can build a family and create their homes freely.

Of course, that’s a worry Grant Rodiek was quick to ease. While there is some multiplayer in this upcoming game, players won’t get an MMO experience here. It’s not a title that will connect everyone together, so if you want a solo experience, it looks like that will still be a prominent option here. But some tests are coming as well, which will give fans a chance to try this game build out despite the project still being years away from being ready for a full launch.

For instance, players’ first beta test is trying out the new build system. Players can build out their dream apartment in this first test, which will apparently allow even more customization options. It seems that players can further tweak items and adjust patterns, colors, shapes, sizes, and more. That should allow for more user-generated content to be supplied online for others to enjoy. Currently, we’ll have to wait for when these tests are available and how players can take part in them.
