Dead Space is one of the more hyped-up and anticipated horror games coming out this year. While the development team over at Motive Studio couldn’t quite get this game ready in time for the spooky Halloween season of 2022, it will be one of the first major horror games we’ll play in 2023. Later this month, we will be getting another go into the campaign of Dead Space, but until it officially hits the marketplace, Motive Studios is providing players with a few more marketing pieces. For instance, we know that the remake will include a New Game Plus mode.
During a recent Inverse interview with Motive Studios Senior Writer Jo Berry, we know a New Game Plus mode will be featured. While the original game release also had this mode, Motive Studios is not quite ready to reveal what this mode will bring exactly in the remake. With that said, Jo Berry did state that players would benefit from going through the USG Ishimura a second time. Most recently, while the launch trailer was set to premiere later today, the trailer ended up releasing ahead of time.
It’s another action-packed gameplay trailer full of horrifying enemies you’ll be faced against. Likewise, this offers a brief look into the game for those who might have missed out on this title. Overall, the remake is said to follow very closely to the original Dead Space 2008 release. Players will be stepping into the role of an engineer set to repair the USG Ishimura. This is a massive planetary mining ship that recently went silent. Assuming the communications system is down a small crew heads into the ship to lend a hand. Unfortunately, upon arrival, they quickly learn the crew was attacked by an alien parasite leaving the group stranded.
Now in an uphill battle for survival, Isaac Clarke will have to explore the ship and deal with the deadly mutated human corpses that have risen up. The trailer offers insight into what you can expect when the game releases later this month. But as we head into the game’s release, developers have highlighted some slight changes. While the game narrative should remain faithful to the original release, we already know that this remake will provide Isaac Clarke with a voice, something that wasn’t present in the first game.
Additionally, there is plenty of hype around Motive Studios Intensity Director which will add some variables to the gameplay to provide terrifying and unexpected moments throughout the campaign. But that doesn’t mean every new feature developers initially came up with made it to the final build. For instance, we know that the developers initially planned on including a feature that prevented players from pausing the game but opted to scrap the feature.
As for Dead Space, the game remake is set to launch on January 27, 2023. When it does release, you’ll find the game available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
