Are you a frequent importer of games and consoles from Japan? Amazon Japan has just made your hobby a whole lot easier.
Amazon Japan has announced that they will now accept international shipping for consoles. This means Amazon now has everything it needs to directly import games to you from Japan. Amazon already had an international, English language version of the site, and also already accepted payment options outside Japan, prior to this. However, they have only been able to arrange to ship outside Japan now.
If you want to try this yourself, you need to remember two things:
- You can change the site to English. Simply go to this page and click on the ‘In English’ link in the navigation bar.
- You can only get international shipping for items sold directly by Amazon Japan. This means when third parties sell items through Amazon, these items can’t be shipped outside Japan.
One of our sources has vouched that you can order an item through Amazon Japan and pay less, shipping included, than if you did using retailers like Play-Asia and Jbox. Game prices frequently go down on Amazon Japan, and they keep their shipping costs low relative to import retailers, so it’s a great option for importing games.
Do you want to give it a try? After setting the website to English, go here to register your account. You will need to make a separate Amazon Japan account from your Amazon account. Once you’re done, you can go here to visit their games section, and tick the Amazon Global box so you only see items that are sold directly by Amazon Japan.
