Quantum Break Episodes To Be Streamed, Not On Game Disc

March 1, 2016 by Stephen Daly

You’ll be able to download the episodes in 1080p on Xbox One and in 4K on PC.

The episodes can still be downloaded in 1080p on Xbox One if you like and will be available in 4K on PC. Given the many variations of each episode, however, streaming was chosen as the main delivery method for the episodes.

Quantum Break the game puts players in the shoes of the hero while the TV episodes give you more insight into the time changing shooter’s villain with elements of the story being influenced by the choices you make during gameplay.

“We have 40 different variations of the show in total where basically your choices get to make it evolve and change whether it’s from a junction choice or we have these things called ‘Quantum Ripples’ which essentially unlocked sort of deleted scenes from the show,” Remedy’s narrative designer Greg Louden commented.

“Then combined with that, the show length can change based on your decisions because some episodes are longer as a result and some episodes are shorter. It basically evolves and that’s why we needed to stream it.

“When we figured out how big the data was, we had to backpedal and think of some good solutions and this made sense.”

Quantum Break is set for release on April 5th for Xbox One and Windows PC. Those who pre-order the game on Xbox One will unlock a free copy on PC, an initiative Microsoft hopes to roll out to all first and third party titles.
