We now know when to expect Adr1ft, the first person space adventure game from developer Three One Zero. The studio’s official twitter account announced today that there are 48 days until the game’s launch on PC – meaning you’ll be able to experience the terror of being stranded in space on March 28. Unfortunately, the game is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One “shortly after.” Hopefully it’s not too long of a wait.

In case you haven’t read up on the game too much so far, it takes place on a destroyed space station. The player inhabits a character who must move through zero gravity with limited oxygen to find more life support modules in order to explore the station and figure out a way to survive. Think something like Gone Home or Firewatch, but crossed with the recent movie Gravity, and you play as a character stuck in Sandra Bullock’s situation.
Three One Zero is headed by Adam Orth, the ex-Microsft Executive at the center of the “deal with it” controversy a few years ago. Orth has stated in interviews that Adr1ft was initially based around ideas and feelings he had about the commotion that ensued after his remarks. While the game has since evolved into the space adventure it is today, its core concepts and themes still resonate with Orth’s lived experience from that time.
While we knew that the game would be coming in March, we didn’t have an exact release date. If all of this sounds interesting to you, definitely check out some of the gameplay footage we got a look at last fall. The game will also be available for the Oculus Rift.
