Bandai Namco has shared a new tutorial video for Pokken Tournament, explaining how to pull off some of the moves used by Pikachu and Lucario.
If these moves look familiar, that should be no surprise as these are some of the more recognizable moves the two Pokemon have used in the Pokemon anime. They also use these moves in Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS.
Having said that, the way you pull off the moves, and the effects it will have on your opponent, will definitely be different than in Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS. Read on to learn what each fighter is capable of.
Each fighter seems to have regular moves, using the A button and the d-pad, and finisher moves. The finishers are activated by pressing the L and R triggers at the same time.
Pikachu
- Thunder Shock – press the A button. Pikachu does a small hop releases a small shock of lightning towards his opponent. It has long range but does not seem to do much damage. Pikachu may be invulnerable to low attacks during this move.
- Firetail – press the A button and down on the d-pad at the same time. Pikachu jumps towards his opponent, striking him or her down with his charged up tail. Very short range, and causes some knockback.
- Elec Ball – press the A button and back on the d-pad at the same time. Pikachu jumps and throws out an Elec Ball mid-air. The ball does not seem to strike enemies on the ground.
- Volt Tackle – Pikachu’s finisher. He electrifies himself, and then throws himself at the enemy with a series of attacks.
Lucario
- Aura Sphere – press the A button. Lucario throws out a blue fireball with medium damage and long range. Aura Sphere can be charged to make a larger and more powerful fireball.
- Bone Rush – press the A button and forward on the d-pad at the same time. Lucario rushes down towards the enemy, striking his opponent three times with a bone. If he happens to be close to the opponent, he will end this move with a downward thrust of the bone. The closer he is, the more powerful the final attack.
- Mega Evolution – Lucario’s finisher. He changes into the Mega Evolution version of himself, and rushes his opponent down with a series of attacks.
This video ends with a commerical for the upcoming Pokemon XY & Z movie. Check it out below.
Pokken Tournament will be released exclusively on the Wii U on March 18, 2016.
