If you’re a Rainbow Six Siege player, you’re going to want to get acquainted with its first expansion, Operation Black Ice.
Among the exciting new additions is a map called Yacht which is set on a –you guessed it — Yacht (perhaps taking a cue from Grand Theft Auto Online), two characters named Frost and Buck, new weapon skins, a tactical weapon called the Leg Trap, and a spectator camera for custom games. Ubisoft has made the bold but very much appreciated choice to make Yacht as well as the maps in each of the upcoming expansions free to all players. Other content will require in-game credits or money to purchase, however.
Frost and Buck will only be available as of February 9 if you do not have a DLC pass. The two operators are apparently based on a real Canadian special ops force.
“My experiences weren’t always perfect, but when Siege works, there’s nothing else like it,” said editor Scott Butterworth of the game. “It’s not designed to appeal to all players, and that’s exactly what allows it to be something special. With so much strategic depth, those periods between firefights actually become some of the most rewarding, while firefights themselves are made all the more intense by the knowledge that you’re fighting for your life, not just your kill/death ratio.”
Rainbow Six Siege anticipates three more expansions to follow Operation Black Ice. Check out the trailer for Operation Black Ice, which is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, below. It doesn’t look half bad.
