Stray the extremely adorable cat simulator sci-fi platformer from BlueTwelve, is now ranked as the best Steam game of 2022. This means that the game has overtaken Sony Santa Monica’s Norse adventure God of War.
As reported by the company Skillup, just after a week of having been released Stray has received 46,244 votes from players, which totals an overall score of 8.61. This means that 98% of players say that they like the game. As a result, Stray has narrowly beaten God of War, which since January has picked up 53,182 user votes, for an overall rating of 8.56 – or 97% approval from players.
The particle list from Steam250 only accounts for games that have released this year. When it comes to ratings of all time, Stray has still a long way until it reaches top game on Steam. Currently the game sits at place number 44, while Portal is at number 1. Stray is still much further than God of War which is currently at place 75.
Currently the Top 5 games on Steam of 2022 are Powerwash Simulator, Teardown, and Dorfromantik. Elden Ring makes and appearance but only at number 37, while the slightly obscure shark survival game Raft, which only launched in June, reaches for a position in the top ten.
Stray’s successes are also due to it’s colorful modding community which has already made a split screen mode, and a Garfield model for the cat protagonist.
