Techland, the team behind Dying Light, has announced a three-part DLC pack based on their #DrinkforDLC campaign from earlier in the year. The pack will include three parts: the Fountain of Youth, an all-new exploration-based quest available in the Old Town area, Water 2.0, a blueprint for a new throwable weapon that intensifies the electrocution effect of all other weapons, and water Challenges – two brand-new parkour challenges designed around the theme of water. The DLC pack will be free to all players.
This content update is inspired by the Polish developer’s #DrinkforDLC campaign from earlier in the year, a health-oriented social media campaign that encouraged people to stay hydrated. A statement from Techland celebrates the fan response: “The fan response exceeded all expectations: the hashtag reached more than 15 million people and resulted in over 15 000 creative photos and videos of fans drinking water, not counting other expressions of support.”
The content pack will be included in Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced edition, which the developer calls “the complete and immensely improved version of the game.” That edition will be released on February 9, 2016, will coincide with an update that will provide free improvements to the original game.
Dying Light was originally released earlier this year to critical praise. In our own review, we thought it was a zombie experience well worth playing.
