Some new rumors have surfaced regarding Mass Effect Andromeda, including details for the story, gameplay, and others.
Of course, as always, these should be taken with a grain of salt, and this is not just because we can’t vouch for the source. It’s also possible, and often the case, that many early details change in the process of development, so even if this were true now, they may not all make it in the final product.
As our source explains, they have chosen to hide any possible identifiers, so there is no way of independently verifying this information. If you are still interested knowing this, you can follow through below.
You are a Pathfinder, an N7 operative tasked with finding a new home for the human race. Other races are in the search for new frontiers as well. The main alien antagonists are a cross between Vorcha and Collectors. I write alien because you will come across a human antagonist as well. His motivations are unknown for now, and he wears the same armor as you sans the N7 insignia (possibly a deserter turned mercenary?) You can choose to kill or spare him.
Andromeda will retain many elements from its predecessors, such as the weapons. You will have two squadmates, a Krogan, and a petite, buxom, blonde human woman. Your squad all have jetpacks, an important element for exploration.
Character customisation includes armour, helmet, gauntlet, etc. A lot of improvements have been made to the facial features and character models.
Combat comes with a true game changer; destructible cover. The omni tool is more versatile, with different functions that arise in different contexts. For example, it can deploy a shield in combat.
The new ship is an entirely new design with a new layout. Your squad even has its own meeting room.
From its balcony, you can look at lower levels, as well as the Pathfinder quarters, and the Mako. The Mako is more or less how it appeared at E3, and it may be customizable.
Galaxy map navigation has changed, with most traversal don via first person view, from within the ship. You can conduct ‘strike missions’ from the ship, but as a rule, you manually fly in to locations. Rapid travel is done via FTL drive. Finally, there are markers on the planets and other bodies in space.
Mass Effect Andromeda will be releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows on December 2016.
