Massive spoiler warning: we’re about to discuss one of the darkest achievements you can get in Supermassive’s interactive horror movie The Quarry.
If you play your cards exactly wrong, you can enter a sequence where Abigail ends up being suddenly murdered by the guy she’s had a crush on all summer. This unlocks the trophy/achievement Lovers’ Quarrel.
This is destined to reach a few top-ten lists as one of the worst things you can do for gamerscore points. Here’s how to pull it off. Sorry in advance.

How to Get Nick to Kill Abigail in The Quarry
The good news is that this comes down to a single snap decision in Chapter 6, when you play as Abigail in the pool house.
The bad news is that it requires you to deliberately fail an easy combat sequence. Up until this point in the game, combat’s had relatively light consequences (unless you’re Jacob), and this is where that stops.
During the exploration scene, wrap it up by opting to move the space heater closer to Nick. This begins a dialogue where your answers don’t seem to matter; you can either be supportive or point out, rightly, that Nick’s gotten real weird in the last half-hour or so.
Either way, Nick will grab Abigail and throw her across the room, where she finds a discarded rifle from the target-shooting classes. You now have the option, as Abigail, to dissuade Nick with a well-placed gunshot.
If you succeed, Abigail lives, but the pool house is going to need a new coat of paint.
If you fail, which takes a deliberate choice on your part since Nick won’t move, he abruptly transforms and rips Abigail’s head clean off. The pool house will still need a new coat of paint, but now it will be for several additional reasons.
This unlocks the Lovers’ Quarrel trophy/achievement, as well as making you feel pretty awful about your decisions.
Why You Should and Shouldn’t Do It
Depending on what you have left to accomplish in The Quarry, it can be a bad idea to let Abigail die this early in the game.
As far as 100% completion is concerned, without Abigail, you can’t get one of the last tarot cards, which locks you out from an optional story sequence and another achievement.
You also can’t rely on Abigail to help Kaitlyn out in Chapter 10, which closes one of Kaitlyn’s potential routes for survival.
(Note: it is possible that you may be able to play as Emma instead in Chapter 9, if she’s alive and uninfected when Kaitlyn returns to the lodge in Chapter 8, but I haven’t had the chance to test it. To be continued.)
As such, if you’ve unlocked the Death Rewind feature, it may be worth it to burn one life now on the achievement, then move forward with the story with Abigail alive. This won’t be the last time you can get her killed, but it does give you more options for the finale.
On the other hand, if you’re going for Hackett’s Quarry Massacre, the trophy/achievement for ending the game with all 9 counselors dead, this is the single most expedient way to get poor Abigail off the board.
