With its latest horror game venture a week away from release, SOMA developer Frictional Games has placed its other games on sale with Amnesia: The Dark Descent available for free for today only.
The sequel to Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, and the Penumbra Collectors Pack, which includes Penumbra Overture and Penumbra: Black Plague Gold Edition, has been discounted by 80%. Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is currently $3.99 and the Penumbra Collectors Pack is currently $1.99. Additionally, players can pre-order SOMA at a 10% discount for $26.99.
SOMA was announced nearly two years ago through a live-action trailer that depicted a woman working on a large, hulking robot that appeared to be deactivated. She continues working on the machine for nearly the entire trailer until in the last few moments something is shown on the machine’s monitor that scares her. She yells a profanity followed by “Contain it now!” before it cuts to black.
Not much was known about the game at the time and it wasn’t until roughly six months later that the game’s underwater setting (and PS4 version announcement) was revealed. Less than two weeks ago, Frictional Games released a trailer narrated by a woman describing some of her fondest memories while chilling music and deserted locales are shown on-screen.
SOMA comes out Sept. 22, 2015 on PC, Mac, Linux, and PlayStation 4.
