Star Wars Battlefront Fighter Squadron Trailer Broken-Down for Your Convenience

August 6, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Here’s what we saw in the gameplay demo in detail.

A new breakdown video of the Star Wars Battlefront Fighter Squadron trailer has been posted on the Star Wars HQ YouTube channel.

The trailer features X-Wings, TIE-fighters, TIE-interceptors, A-wings, Slave I, and the Millennium Falcon.

There will be forty ships in the air at any given time, 20 controlled by players and 20 by the computer. Transport ships, which act as objectives, will also appear in the combat zone.

In the gamescom reveal, DICE showed an Imperial shuttle which the Empire fighters had to defend from rebel scum. The video takes place in the skies of the planet Sullust and opens with star destroyers overhead as X-Wings swoop in. The X-Wings are closed for flight but soon open as they enter combat in attack position.

Then the Imperial shuttle takes off, followed by TIE-fighters, and one of the ships performs a roll before we see the interior cockpit view of an X-Wing. The attack icon directs the player towards the shuttle, which must be destroyed for the rebels to win. The video then changes to an Imperial TIE-fighter which has a blue dot marking the shuttle it needs to defend.

A number of power-ups appear in the sky and you can gain health, boost, and Hero pickup. These power-ups appear randomly around the map and spawn close to the ground. An A-wing is also seen using its torpedo power-up to take out a TIE-fighter. Torpedoes only need to be locked on once and will then follow their target to do some serious damage.

Shortly afterwards the Millennium Falcon swoops in and Han Solo can be heard saying the classic line "never tell me the odds." The Falcon takes out the Imperial shuttle which is when Boba Fett arrives on the scene aboard Slave I.

With that, the Fighter Squadron trailer ends.
