Rumor: The Walking Dead Combo Pack Listed Online For Wii U

August 6, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

After coming to every 7th gen platform except Wii, this may be Telltale’s opportunity to get at a still untapped gaming fanbase.

A new listing has come up online on UK retailer Game for a special edition of The Walking Dead for Wii U.

This version will have Season 1 GOTY Edition as well as Season 2 in what is being called The Walking Dead Combo Pack.

Originally introduced in 2012, The Walking Dead games was set in the same universe the Robert Kirkman comics of the same name is set in. However, Telltale developed their own original characters, including the main character that connects Seasons 1 and 2; Clementine, the twintailed preteen facing the harshest Bildungsroman this side of an Ender’s game.

Telltale has found tremendous success with The Walking Dead, bringing into vogue a style of adventure game that deemphasizes puzzle solving and action for storytelling. The especially harsh moral dilemmas force you to take a stand in short order the first time your play each game.

While The Walking Dead was being ported to PC, the PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, Telltale was bringing a different breed of adventure games to Wii, in the Sam & Max revival, Tales of Monkey Island, and Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People. However, Nintendo fans didn’t really get to play Telltale’s real hits on their console.

While there is some speculation that this is the secret port being developed by experienced Wii U developer Straight Right, particularly their Tantalus studio, this is actually not likely. Tantalus has already revealed their secret project isn’t rated M, which The Walking Dead definitely is.

Are you one of the Nintendo fans who missed out and is looking forward to playing The Walking Dead for the first time? Or are you looking forward to quadruple dipping on the only console with the GamePad, hoping for unique features? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
