Square Enix has released its second trailer for Dragon Quest 8, sharing many of the new features for 3DS, including camera mode, a new scenario, and a new dungeon.
It gives us another look at alchemy and character customization, which includes equipment. The trailer also features Battle Road, based on the arcade game that one of the new playable characters, Morrie, comes from.
Dragon Quest Battle Road is a simple game in the arcade. Monsters compete against each other in a coliseum, and you participate by using cards to help your monster in the middle of the battle.
If you were wondering about Camera Mode, it does not just replicate the screen capture function Miiverse has. It allows you to edit and add in effects, like you would in Japanese purikura ohot booths, and will let you share these photos to other players in Streetpass.
There is a new story scenario, that revolves around both the protagonist’s childhoold and the past of the jester Dhoulmagus.
Finally, the new dungeon is set in a cave, although Square has not yet revealed at what point in the game it appears. We do know the name of the dungeon’s boss: Jahagaros, a jolly green and red giant.
Dragon Quest 8 will be releasing in Japan on August 27, and is expected to arrive to the West in an unrevealed date in the future.
