Atomic Heart is a game we’ve been waiting on for a good while now. Developers Mundfish has been working on the project for the past several years, and they’ve been keen on keeping details light. As a result, there was quite a bit of mystery to this game, but today we have a brand new gameplay trailer. It’s also a trailer that the developers confirm a 2022 release window for their upcoming FPS.
We knew that this game was set in a strange and unusual alternate timeline. This footage dives a bit more into the oddity of this world, but we’re certainly all about it. Atomic Heart throws you into a strange retro-futuristic world. Set within the alternate 1950s, the Soviet Union is going strong, and you’re taking the role of a mentally unstable KGB agent named P-3. When a facility strangely grows silent, P-3 ventures into the area to uncover what has happened.
You’re quickly dealing with rogue machinery that’s rebelling human orders. From what we can gather in this latest trailer, there is quite a bit of action-packed gameplay waiting for players. Likewise, they’ll even have the ability to make some unique modifications to their gear. Throughout the game, you’ll be able to pick up scrap to tweak your firearms further, making them more efficient when gunning down the hostile machinery. As mentioned, the game has been in the works for a few years now. But it looks like Mundfish is releasing Atomic Heart within the later half of this year.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific release date attached to the game quite yet. However, Mundfish are putting this game out into the marketplace at some point between September and December of this year. When Atomic Heart releases, we can expect it on the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. In the meantime, you can check out the latest gameplay footage released in the video embedded above.
