Fast Racing Neo: Over 30 Minutes Gameplay, Details Revealed

June 18, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Shinen aimed to have enough content to justify a disc release, although it is digital only.

Were you one of many fans online taken by the surprise reveal of Fast Racing Neo? We have some footage and details for you to pique your interest further on this Wii U exclusive.

For those unaware, Fast Racing Neo is actually the sequel to Fast Racing League, a WiiWare title that came out relatively recently, in 2011. Gameplay elements remain unchanged for this Wipeout like series. You choose from several futuristic ship like racers and traverse winding, twisting tracks to heavy techno beats.

Shinen Games takes it a step further from Wipeout and F-Zero and adds two ways to speed up: phase charging and energy items. There are two colors for road strips found across the track; blue and orange. When you pass through either a blue or orange strip, you want to match your vehicle to that color to speed it up. You can also speed up by collecting energy items, and thereby building up a meter for a boost you can use anytime.

Fast Racing Neo was featured in Day 2 of Nintendo’s Treehouse Live event, and it was there that Shinen revealed there are multiple secret paths players can uncover to get through certain courses even faster.

Fast Racing Neo will feature three racing speeds, four player split screen local multiplayer, online, time trial, 16 tracks. Each car will behave completely differently, and each track will be so unique that it will force players to memorize them and also play differently. Shinen aimed to have enough content to justify a disc release, although it is digital only.

However, the build shown in the Treehouse live had was not the latest. You can watch the Treehouse presentation below, and 12 minutes of the latest build above, for a cumulative 30 minutes of gameplay, with and without commentary..

Fast Racing Neo will release exclusively to the Wii U in 2015.
