Just last week, the New World development team spoke with PCGamesN to discuss the upcoming changes players could expect in the massive January update. Expedition Mutators was one such addition, upping the difficulty and complexity of late-game content while adding new gear and a better means of upping a player’s items and expertise to the max. The update also added lots of smaller changes, including reduced costs to craft tuning orbs for Expeditions, quicker leveling, and more. Unsurprisingly, in typical New World fashion, the update has added a ton of new bugs and problems to the trouble MMORPG, with many players simply calling the patch ‘broken.’
In a recent post, Reddit user Bocika lists every bug found in the first five minutes of playing the new patch. This includes not being able to sell items, being unable to craft from storage, not being able to write to global chat, player to player trade being disabled, dungeon chests dropping the wrong GS items, and multiple crashes. Many players are also reporting being double-taxed on their property.
The biggest issue reported is an inventory bug which Amazon Games has acknowledged. The issue stems from items not stacking properly causing the unique item limit to be reached before the actual limit. The dev team is reportedly working on this issue first.
The highly-anticipated Mutated Expeditions have proved to be a major disappointment. Rather than dropping gear with scores from 590 to 625, players are picking up items with a measly 500 gear score. Compound this with the crummy amount of Umbral Shards dropped for completing these Exhibitions and the massive amount needed to upgrade your gear, and this update looks to be a total bust. Reminder: this update spent weeks on a public test server.
New World is currently available for the PC. The game’s developers revealed some new gameplay changes in an hour and a half-long video posted in December 2021, and we can only hope that some of these updates go through without incident.
