Tons Of Things You May Have Missed In The Fallout 4 Trailer

June 3, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Three Dog, Boston monuments, bobbleheads, and more.

After years of speculation, Bethesda has finally announced Fallout 4 and revealed the first trailer for the game. The three minute long video is packed with details and we point some of the ones you may have missed below.

First off, the trailer confirmed that the game is indeed set in Boston as had been widely expected. The city is home to the technologically advanced Institute, the Fallout universe's version of MIT. It's possible the Institute had something to do with the flying ship featured in the trailer.

Of course, Boston was a key city in shaping America's history and this is reflected in some of the landmarks we see, such as the statue of Paul Revere, the State House, the Bunker Hill Monument, and the USS Constitution.

The 2:00 minute mark in the video also features a sign with the letters 'GNN' and a tower emitting radio waves – possibly suggesting the return of popular Fallout 3 radio host Three Dog. GNN likely stands for Galaxy News Network, an extension of the GNR (Galaxy News Radio) station from Fallout 3. Erik Todd Dellums, Three Dog's voice actor, suggested he would be in the game back in 2013. Why he moved from the Capital Wasteland to Boston is unknown, though this will surely be explained in the game. It's possible he won't actually be a character in Fallout 4, but has simply discovered a way to extend his broadcasts to Boston.

The game will see players fill the shoes of a Vault 111 resident and confirming leaks from last year, it seems the protagonist will indeed speak. Whether or not this will affect the old dialogue system remains to be seen.

Bobbleheads, which were collectible in Fallout 3 by the game's hero, are back, and a new rifle has also been confirmed. Presumably, this isn't the only new weapon.

The Fallout Wikia has a piece of fan fiction about Vault 111 that is in no way canonical to the Fallout universe. We don't know why it's in there, either. And, based on the trailer, it seems Bethesda has a different story in mind for the Vault. What that will be is anyone's guess at this point.

Fallout 4 is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One but does not currently have a release date. More information on the game will be revealed during Bethesda's E3 press conference on Sunday, June 14th.
