Looking forward to some competitive Call of Duty: Black Ops 3? Faze Censor gets help from his friend Drifter to share new details on the game’s competitive online multiplayer component. You can subscribe to Faze Censor here.
As a cyborg, you have abilities similar to those the exosuit-fitted soldiers had in Call of Duty:Advanced Warfare. However, these abilities are implemented differently. In some ways, you are depowered, but then you have better control over the abilities to facilitate competitive play.
So, as a cyborg, you can swim, and you can wall run, and when you do these things, you can also do all of the other actions. So, you can shoot, reload, throw grenades, etc. You can even ADS.
Now, wall running has a lot of limitations placed on it. For one, each map only has one to two wall running spots at most. Wall running requires you keep momentum going, and of course, your vision will be tilted so you need to adjust to that accordingly.
Because of the momentum requirement, you can fall off if you stay in ADS too long, stop moving, or get stunned. However, with skillful play, you can ADS while wall running and pick off your enemies efficiently.
You cannot high jump like in Call of Duty:Advanced Warfare . However, you can thrust jump five times over. Every time you jump again, you can change directions. This jump has a lower maximum attainable height, and is slower than the exosuit high jump, but as outlined here, you can better control it. There is a meter for the thrust jump so you can charge it.
Call of Duty:Advanced Warfare allows you to choose to automantle, or enable vaulting automatically. This is now the default for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
Regarding balance, it is unclear for now if the guns will be overpowered. The thing is, Drifter got to play the beta since May, and he says the amount of changes are staggering. Some of the things they have been playing with are unbalanced, such as an attachment that doubles damage for headshots.
That detail may not make it into the final game, but in the end, fans should just put their trust in Treyarch, as always, to make a proper competitive game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 6, 2015.
