Fallout 4 Speculations Abound!

June 3, 2015 by Vanessa Lopa

People are losing their minds over such a simple teaser, but who can blame them? They’ve waited nearly 5 years for any sign of a Fallout 4 announcement.

Fallout fans from all over pretty much lost it when they saw the tweet from Bethesda Game Studios teasing a new Fallout game. We mentioned yesterday that a lot of hoaxes involving Fallout 4 have occurred in the past, so this has led to some negative reactions as well.

On one end, we have some folks who seem a bit jaded, saying it’s probably just a next-gen remaster of the older titles. With all the hoaxes unleashed on the world – some being very convincing – we can understand why some folks would be guarded. It also doesn’t help that we’ve been getting plenty of HD remasters of beloved games recently, instead of the continuation that we crave.

On the other – much happier! – end, we have fans rejoicing over the simple teaser. The last Fallout title we got was released in 2010. It seems highly unlikely that Bethesda would do a countdown for just a remaster or a collector’s edition of an already-released title, because you only do that if you want to watch the world burn. Bethesda never made a secret of working on Fallout 4, they just never promised us a concrete timeline. Looks like that’s about to change.

Speculations abound as to what this release is really going to be. Will it even be called Fallout 4, or Fallout: ? Yes, folks are still clinging on to the Boston thing. It seems to be a fan favorite, given that the Institute/MIT in real life is there.

Of course, Bethesda also planted a little easter egg in the website’s source code to really get us going:

PA system failure has occurred.
Shutdown of the Masterbrain has been authorized and all sensitive materials have been removed for security purposes.
Please attempt re-access. Have a pleasant day.

This could be a hint that the next Fallout title will be a sort of reboot, given how many years have passed since the last installment. We also got a quote from Ron Perlman – who is no stranger to video game voice acting and Fallout games – where he states “I wish I could give you news on that, but I can’t and I won’t.” Coupled with that knowing smirk of his, we’re betting he knows something we don’t.

What do you think this could be? Do you have any specific expectations for the next Fallout title, or do you just want it to be announced already? Did you find other clues that are pointing in the direction of Fallout 4? Tell us what’s on your mind and maybe we can compare notes.
