New World Continues to Have Mass-Reporting Problem

December 28, 2021 by Carley Garcia

This game is immune to good PR.

Another week, another New World problem. Amazon Game Studios has implemented well over a dozen patches since launch day back in September, but it seems that once one problem is fixed two pop up to take their place. From bots stealing resources to a shattered economy, the title lost over 70% of its playerbase within the first month. While Studio head Rich Lawrence recently spoke at length about the work being done to remedy the worst of New World‘s issues, one problem in particular is still causing headaches for average players.

The MMO features massive large-scale wars and territorial disputes–all well and good if everyone plays by the rules. But mass-reporting has continued as those desperate to stay on top of the PvP game ruin the overall experience for those trying to conquer the game’s lands fair and square. Why bother trying to be the best when you can simply have enemy Companies automatically banned from the game? Currently, it only takes around 10 to 15 reports for New World‘s automated system to ban a player.

In a video clip posted to Reddit by user Jackdarkshade, a streamer is shown talking to other New World players who suggest mass-reporting the leader of an enemy Company, just so their particular Faction has an easier time conquering specific areas. For those out of the loop, owning a settlement in the MMO is a huge deal, and the Company holding the flag can decide on the taxes players in the town need to pay.

Despite the many hiccups plaguing New World since its release, Amazon Game Studios has been quick to respond to player feedback. We can only hope that this issue is somehow fixed in the very near future.

New World is currently available for the PC. Last week, the game’s developers revealed some new gameplay changes in an hour and a half-long video. Earlier this month, a spokesperson for Amazon Game Studios addressed the current problem with bots, stating that the issue is continuously being addressed.
