Rocksteady Studios has a solid track record. These are the folks behind the highly successful and beloved Batman franchise, Batman Arkham. However, eventually, the studio ended the series and started work on something new. So after 2016, we were left waiting to see just what IP they would be picking up next. Sticking with the DC Comics lineup, it was finally unveiled in 2020 that Rocksteady Studios was bringing out Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.
While it’s a DC Comics franchise, Suicide Squad, might have just recently started to gain some significant attention. Now the game is coming out next year, but there was a new storyline trailer unveiled during the past weekend DC FanDome event. This footage is all cinematic but gives a new look to the premise and the game’s tone. It’s still an over-the-top, action-packed experience with plenty of humor. If you’re unfamiliar with Suicide Squad, this task force is made of different Arkham Asylum inmates.
Planted with a bomb in their heads, the task force is forced to do different covert missions deemed too deadly for regular forces to handle. In the case of this game, we have Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark having to stop the Justice League. The heroes have become infected, causing them to create a new swarm of chaos around Metropolis.
The footage is only a few minutes long, but so far, the reception has been great. Fans are eager to try this new game out. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the specific release date. However, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is slated to release in 2022 for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
