Still struggling to get your bearings around Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate? We’ve assembled some small guides on what you need to know to get started. This guide comes courtesy of Arekkz Gaming, whom you can subscribe to on YouTube here.
Hunting Monsters
The very act of hunting monsters is meaningful. Depending on whether you are collecting materials to craft an item, to finish a quest, or just progress in the game, you actually have different objectives and desired end states.
Progressing is the simplest goal. You just need to kill the monsters, so you want to focus on maximizing damage. Therefore, you need to focus on weak spots. Different weapons happen to change where you can inflict the most damage. You will also want to utilize a monster’s elemental weakness. You can learn what monsters are weak from here and here.
If you are crafting an item, then you are technically farming. You will need specialized information on item drops, specifically what body parts to target for the greatest chances to get the item you want. You can need that info here.
When you know what to target, use whatever means you have to keep a monster in place (mounting or trapping them) and use barrel bombs to cause massive damage. If you do enough damage, the body parts will fall off, or at least you raise your chances to finish the job.
Of course, quests are more straightforward, so you will learn from the quest description how to accomplish certain goals.
Farming Zenny
Now here’s something that you will want to learn, especially to make sure you don’t miss armor sets you want.
You can farm for Zenny by using Might Seeds in rotation. Might Seeds are an OK item in battle (increases attack power), but they’re also worth 140 Zenni. If you stack Might Seeds to the max of 99 seeds, that equals 13,860 Zenni.
What you want to do is leave your Seeds to Wycoon and Multiply Items. You can increase the multiplier by the number of quests you achieve before you come back, and you increase that rate further if you throw in a gratuity item. This will cost you Pokke Points, but you will have earned that by fulfilling Expeditions.
Might Seeds is a part of the game, that’s not really a hack. You need play time to make it work, but it’s a good passive way to make money. You can also always sell rare monster parts, but you will also want to keep your hands on them in case you need them for an item you will craft. Therefore, you should keep Might Seed farming so you can rely on that, and sell rare monster parts as a last resort.
