If you'll remember, Sony recently offered gamers the chance to buy into a limited edition Playstation 4. There were 20,000 units made of this console, which was created to represent Sony's 20 year gaming anniversary. All of them sold off store shelves extremely fast, many bought by scalpers who then resold them on eBay and other websites at gouged prices.
However, there was one PS4 out of the bunch that Sony kept to themselves. After all the fanfare of the 20th anniversary PS4 had finally been quelled, they announced that they were going to be auctioning off the very first model of it. The serial number on this particular PS4 is "00001." Sony ended up cashing in $128,000 in the auction they hold for this PS4, but they plan to give all of the profits to charity.
There's been no discussion as to what charity will be receving these funds, but we're guessing it will be something gaming-related. Good on you, Sony.
