A patch meant to finally fix Assassin's Creed Unity's many problems has simply created more, with some Xbox One players reporting that due to a mishap, the update file is in fact the entire 40GB game.
The update is already a sizable 6.7GB but it's certainly preferable to downloading the entire game again.
"Unfortunately, an issue with the patch downloading process is replacing the entire game instead of just the parts affected by the patch," Ubisoft remarked in an update on the official Assassin's Creed site. "This is obviously not the expected behavior, and we apologize that many of you will have to wait longer than expected to complete this download.
"We are working with Microsoft on a solution to reduce the total download to the intended size so that you can get back into the game faster," Ubisoft continued. "but as of now we have no ETA on when this will be resolved."
Those who have a physical copy of Unity can simply delete the patch and restart the game, at which point the correct update will be installed.
Unity has had so many problems since launch that Ubisoft has cancelled the game's season pass and offered compensation in the form of a free game to those who purchased the pass.
